The Business Development Lead is responsible for supporting the growth and development initiatives of the Company across all divisions and locations, developing and managing strategic partnerships to grow business.
This position is based out of our Northern Ontario office in Sudbury, Ontario.
Key Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
- Develop and execute business development strategies to achieve divisional objectives.
- Perform market and industry analytics to anticipate investment trends with the goal being the development and management of a 5 – 10-year market acquisition and growth strategy.
- Grow our existing client base; constantly engage in cold calling and improvise on the sales approach to reach out clients.
- Gather, analyze, and identify market trends/threats including competitor’s activity, client feedback, and internal intelligence.
- Work proactively with other stakeholders across the organization to ensure that the business development process is optimized on a continuous basis.
- Provide monthly project updates for Business Development Meetings and supporting strategic planning sessions.
- Participate in the development, planning, and implementation of marketing and sales programs such as trade shows, press releases, brochures, data sheets, white papers, briefings, etc.
- Create and maintain an accurate customer relationship management system (CRM or equivalent) to effectively track opportunities, call records, contact lists/targets, etc.
- Drive the sales process, including lead generation, RFP coordination and pre-qualification, presentation of services and value proposition to clients, negotiation of agreement and closing the deal.
- Act as Proposal Manager for management-approved opportunities and holding, Pursuit Decisions, Bid/No Bid, and Formal Management Review Meetings in accordance with the Company’s.
- Implement bid and proposal development procedures.
Educational & Professional Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree with 10+ years of construction industry experience an asset.
- Proven track record of business development success in construction with an excellent reputation in Northern Ontario.
- 3+ years of experience managing and leading teams.
- A high performer who gains the trust and wins the respect of prospective clients, existing clients and colleagues by demonstrating technical knowledge.
- Strong knowledge of the sales process, and a commitment to quality and delivery.
- Must display initiative, leadership, and independent thinking in a team environment; strong ability to solve problems.
- Excellent negotiation skills are essential.
- Proven interpersonal, verbal, and written skills. Must have advanced presentation/sales skills.
- A strong understanding of construction costing.
- A general knowledge of the real estate and development markets.
- An established network of clients, realtors, developers, and landowners.
