Reporting to the Health & Safety Manager, the Health and Safety Coordinator will build relationships with site teams and sub trades to facilitate a strong safety culture. Develop safety skills to assist in hazard assessment and incident prevention.
This position is based out of our Northern Ontario office located in Sudbury, Ontario.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Assist in the administration and maintenance of the organization’s safety programs to ensure compliance with all new and existing health and safety legislation
- Assist in requirements to maintain Company COR designation
- Acting as chair on JHSC meetings, record meeting minutes.
- Promote a positive safety culture.
- Assist in the tracking, maintaining, organizing and coordinating Employee training including safety orientation to new Employees.
- Develop skills in presentations, orientations, site inspections and accident/injury reports
- Assist with the administrative function for the department by ensuring all site safety reports, tool box talks, and other associated documentation is reviewed, organized, properly completed and filed
- Travel to various site locations to conduct inspections on jobsites, PPE, conduct safety audits and initiate corrections.
- Assist with assembling job safety boards
- Develop skills to proactively identify and prevent hazardous situations and take necessary measures to correct them
- Coordinate and maintain company safety equipment; identify new safety equipment/supplies
- Prepares correspondence, reports, forms, and specialized documents; proofreads materials for accuracy, completeness, compliance, formatting, and grammar.
- Participate in training required to pursue NCSO
- Perform other duties as assigned to meet business unit and corporate objectives.
Educational & Professional Requirements:
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in a related OHS discipline
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Effective working knowledge of applicable safety legislation
- Driver’s license and access to a vehicle is REQUIRED
