Hamilton Port Authority Pier 12 Shore Wall Replacement/Upgrade

Barclay played a key role in the reconstruction of Pier 12 at the Port of Hamilton, a major marine infrastructure project involving the rebuilding of 208 metres of dock wall along the Emerald Street Slip.

The work involved a combination of major structural improvements, including the installation of steel sheet piling, precast concrete anchoring systems, and a new 208-metre concrete parapet wall. Additional work included site dewatering, excavation and backfilling, selective demolition of existing concrete structures, stormwater drainage upgrades, and the installation of new dock furnishings.

Originally constructed in 1948, Pier 12 is one of the port’s busiest marine terminals, supporting the movement of goods throughout the Great Lakes shipping network. The reconstruction of the pier’s western section represents a significant investment in critical marine infrastructure, improving structural integrity and supporting safe, reliable port operations for years to come.
