Project Coordinator, Southern Ontario

As a Project Coordinator, you will support the Project Team with the overall administrative direction for one large or several smaller projects.  Responsible for assisting with the overall project performance including costs, schedule, quality and project status. Maintain a healthy relationship with sub-trades and clients.

This position is based out of our Southern Ontario office located in Hamilton, Ontario.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Maintaining excellent relations with owner, architect, consultants, subcontractors and public
  • Setting up of project reporting procedures (cost reports, file logs, submittal logs, change logs, etc.)
  • Providing performance status reports regarding cost forecast, schedule and safety
  • Understanding and enforcing contractual responsibilities, contract documents and resolving disputes
  • Monitors project safety reporting and conducts regular safety inspections as set out by Health, Safety and Environment systems
  • Assisting the Project Manager in developing and monitoring the project schedule and budget
  • Negotiating and issuing subcontracts and major purchase orders and monitoring their progress, schedule and conducting subcontract buyout
  • Assisting the Project Superintendent in establishing the construction plan, engineering methods, project safety and environment programs
  • Preparing/verifying of progress payments to owner and subcontractors, and monitoring progress
  • Meeting manager: acting as chair on project meetings and accumulate meeting minutes
  • Involved in all facets of project close-out, including archiving of documents, maintenance and warranty manuals, deficiencies and warranty work
  • Liaising with building authorities and regulatory agencies
  • Developing and ensuring compliance with quality control plan/establishing site action teams as necessary
  • Ensuring project profitability
  • Performing detailed cost review regularly to ensure accuracy of Budget Forecast
  • Preparing correspondence, reports, form, and specialized documents; proofreading materials for accuracy, completeness, compliance, formatting, and correct English usage, including grammar, punctuation and spelling
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet business unit and corporate objectives
  • Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • The ability to succeed under strict timelines
  • Working knowledge of construction equipment and techniques, drawings and specifications, and building materials
  • Knowledge of applicable laws and building codes
  • Great attention to detail and the ability to creatively solve problems
  • Basic understanding of construction sequences
  • Ability to plan and organize construction activities
  • Ability to be flexible and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong computer skills with an aptitude for learning new programs; experienced in MS Office and MS Project; experience with Viewpoint an asset
  • Ability to establish strong working relationships with sub trades and clients

 

EDUCATIONAL AND PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Post-secondary diploma/degree in a related engineering or construction management discipline or equivalent experience
  • Previous coordination experience preferably with a mid to large general contractor considered an asset
  • A Driver’s license and access to a vehicle is required

Salary Range: $55,000 – $75,000 annually.
