The Project Superintendent manages and oversees all field construction for the assigned project(s) or may direct an area of a major project, as part of the construction management team. They are responsible for all field aspects of project safety, project budget, schedule, and general performance.

 

This position is based out of our Northern Ontario office located in Sudbury, Ontario.

Key Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

  • Site Operations: Coordinate and manage day-to-day site operations. Plans and prepares for site activities in advance of actual start date to ensure schedule conformance. Maintain daily Superintendent reports “Daily Logs” in Procore, outlining daily events, manpower, safety, and documenting site issues.  Oversees, provides support and direction to Field Engineer ensuring tasks are executed in a safe manner, and are in accordance with Matheson Constructors policies and procedures.  Ensure all contractual requirements are upheld throughout the project.

  • Schedule & Planning: Ability to understand construction schedules, and monitor progress, assists in the development and monitoring of the construction schedule, offers input on construction sequencing. Displays an in-depth understanding of the construction sequencing logic and can offer construction timeframe input for procurement schedule development.

  • Health & Safety: Implements, leads, and participates in the delivery of Matheson Constructor’s Safety Program and site-specific work procedures, high level of understanding of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Matheson Constructors Safety Program.  Ability to enforce Health & Safety policies and implement procedures with a zero-tolerance approach to ensure a safe workplace.

  • General Requirements: Participate in mobilization to site by assisting with setting up site office, utility service locations, location and type of hoarding, storage and laydown areas, crane location and temporary power, water and/or sewer requirements.  Possesses knowledge, with a high-level understanding of typical construction methods, systems, materials, and practices, has a refined understanding of building concepts, principles, and construction methods

Educational & Professional Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years previous construction experience

  • Experience in the Hydroelectric Generation Market is considered an asset

  • Strong and effective communication skills including verbal, written, and technical/computer skills

  • Problem-solving skills

  • Positive relationship-building abilities with both internal and external stakeholders

  • Driver’s license and access to a vehicle is required
